Activity

The French Maritime Cluster (CMF) is an organization formed to stimulate and promote the French maritime economic sector. Its current membership of more than 280 organisations from the sector includes large groups and companies, SME, VSE, professional federations and associations, and the French Navy. Established in 2005 to provide a voice for those professionally engaged in maritime related activities, it is the focal point and representative of the French maritime industries, and continually seeks to foster their internal synergies.

The CMF acts on three fronts: communication, continuous dialogue with government authorities and the pursuit of synergies between its members. Chief among its publications is an annual brochure designed as a business tool, which gives an analytical snapshot of essential data on France’s maritime industries. The CMF organizes numerous conferences and activities.

Furthermore, 8 to 10 times a year, around 250 business leaders attend “networking” buffets where they can meet together, also with ministerial advisers and/or senior government officials,  maritime journalists, etc… while more than 4,300 managers and executives have taken part in its cross-sector “synergy work groups” since the end of 2006. Finally between 12 and 1300 managers from the maritime sector participate in its annual maritime conferences “Assises de la mer”, also regularly attended by members of government ,including the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Sustainable Development, the Sea, Defence, Overseas Territories, etc.

Finally the Chairman of the CMF currently chairs the European Network of Maritime Clusters, which he cofounded and which was established at its office in Paris at the end of 2005 (together with the Dutch Maritime at the time).
