Eurostat reported that the Port of Gdansk recorded the largest increases in 2022. Terminals at the Port of Gdansk transhipped by 40%. more loads than in 2021.
Gdańsk Port overtook, among others, seaports in Bremerhaven, Marseille and Barcelona. The Port of Gdansk ranks 5th in the European Union with 51%. increase in transshipment after the first quarter of 2023. The largest ports in Europe include the sea ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp-Bruges and Hamburg.
At the Port of Gdansk, the transshipment of energy raw materials, coal, crude oil and fuels increased. Data for 11 months of 2023 show that coal transhipment at the Port of Gdansk reached 12.8 million tons, so on an annual basis, coal will be in profit compared to 2022. The largest increase was recorded by the liquid fuel transhipment terminal. Transshipment of liquid fuels increased from 23 million tons to 34.4 million.
The first part of the T3 quay is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2025 at the Baltic Hub terminal. After completing the investment, Gdańsk will be able to handle up to 4.5 million TEU per year. The expansion of Naftoport is planned. A sixth oil reloading point will be built. GAZ-SYSTEM plans to install an FSRU. The idea is to increase the possibilities of importing LNG to Poland.
